What is a Hood Intellectual? Have you ever appreciated the total beauty and vibrancy of a Ghetto Rose? Have you ever been robbed of your stupefied blindness from a Thug Prophet? If you listen to the hype of what hood, ghetto, or thug means in the mainstream you may go deaf from the silent propaganda or damage your eyes with the prejudiced ghetto caricature, or speak with the garbled tongue twisting mumbo-jumbo of Charlie brown whomp-whomp non-Speak, non-Voice and non-Sense! This is a place where us "unique-casts" can use the special gift of our double-consciousness to elevate, stimulate and articulate the voices, visions, triumphs and struggles of our fellow comrades, confidantes and ourselves. We are always locked in a dualistic paranoid neuroticism: Situated halfway between W.E.B Dubois, Dr. Cornel West, Sojourner Truth and the street sensibilities of Malcolm X, Angela Davis and our beloved Tupac Shakur. In this betweeness part of us aspires upward and outward, while the other half runs against the wind as the gravity of keeping it real.... a love affair with hood dysfunction and those we don’t want to leave behind pull on us with fearful longing in thine eyes and fears of abandoned sorrow in thine heart! No matter which road we take, we end up being lonely at the top, feeling trapped at the bottom, and in the middle we end up just feeling misunderstood. I hope you Enjoy.
